In October over a course of 5 days, the Greenwashing shit really did hit the fan!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It started with Self proclaimed activist Cara Delevingne who co-founded an eco platform 'My Eco Resolution' to raise awareness for our people & planet and then found the time to collaborate with fast fashion giant Nasty Gal! (Boohoo owned).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the same day, Topshop launches its Sustainable Fashion range 'Considered' - have you considered not producing the amount of #plasticfashion and cleaning your current supply chain/business model before launching an ethical range?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the weekend 'Who What Wear' published an article on the top 10 sustainable fashion 'INFLUENCERS' when at least 3 out of 10 where big AFFILIATE Link girls to fast fast giants such as Gap H&M Marks and Spencer & Other Stories (which is owned by H&M) - This article has since been taken down.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And just this morning I was blocked by Influencer 'Lorna Luxe' for asking her a question on the range she has collaborated with 'In The Style' #WhoMadeYourClothes? I have also been accused by her directly as a SCAM. Because of my question.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In my opinion, it really 'profanity' annoys me that celebrities and so called 'Influencers' (hate that word) have this amazing following and they are not using it to their advantage to promote better for our planet and people. It is 100% worse when they do 1 panel talk or 1 post about sustainable fashion and everyone 'wants them' for book quotes to fashion spreads, when 99% of the time they have these SWIP UP links to fast fashion companies.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Angry - Yes⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Upset - Yes⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Time to turn the tide on bullshit influencers? - YES!
